Sandusky Report

Spoil Alert:

Reading Chapter 2 is uncomfortable and nauseating I can't imagine how the victims must have felt.

Sandusky's mind games played with the boys to build a trusting relationship by creating a novel, exclusive experience allowing the boys to workout and sit on Penn State's sidelines is monstrous.

After reading I'm at a loss for how action was not ensued sooner as on May 19th, 1998 undercover police overheard Sandusky and a mother of one victim discuss this:

As they listened from another room, the officers heard the mother ask Sandusky about the bear hug in the shower, and whether his “private parts” touched the boy while they hugged. Sandusky said, “I don’t think so …maybe.”  He also said he had showered with other boys  before,  but denied having “sexual feelings” when he hugged her son.
He admitted telling the boy that he loved him. Sandusky asked to speak with her son and the mother replied that she did not feel that was a good idea as her son was confused. . .
Sandusky responded, “I understand. I was wrong. I wish I could get forgiveness. I know I won’t get it from you. I wish I were dead.”

How did this not signal pedophile behavior to at least execute an investigation?
The fact that Sandusky's decade of harm could have been stopped is the most disturbing part.
